Book Review – The Extinction Trials by S.M. Wilson

extinction trialsBetrayal. Sacrifice. Survival.

Welcome to the Extinction Trials.

In Stormchaser and Lincoln’s ruined world, the only way to survive is to risk everything. To face a contest more dangerous than anyone can imagine. And they will do anything to win.

But in a land full of monsters – human and reptilian – they can’t afford to trust anyone. Perhaps not even each other…

Another 4.5 star read! Wow what a ride! Actually seriously contemplating 5 stars. I think I loved everything about this. I mean dinosaurs, so duh, but it’s SO well done.
I’m so looking forward to more as well. Especially about Reban Don, he seems like a sneaky so and so, lol.

It’s hard to think what to put that won’t end in spoilers, but I loved everything about Piloria. The danger, the sense of beauty. I like the distrust in the government as well – it was touched upon just enough to cover what you needed to get a sense of their leadership (ha) and the people’s opinions on it, but not overkill.

Ironically, I definitely liked the landscape more than the main characters hehe. I like both, but they are both so flawed. Storm is brilliant, and I like that she hides it, and I want to see more of that and some of the spoilery stuff we learn about her! I like that she’s strong and brave and flawed, but it’s somewhat hard to justify her reasons for going against those who go for their families. Lincoln is more understandable but more driven and desperate, I’m quite conflicted about him right now!! I’d also liked to have seen more about what was pushing Galen.

And I definitely look forward to learning more about the dinosaurs – especially the plesiosaurs!

Such a good read though. Pretty action packed, with such a great sense of tension and fear. I am highly anticipating the sequel.

Less shockingly, another quest type book I adored! I obviously have a bookish weak spot 😉
