Book Review – The Lost Twin by Sophie Cleverley

the lost twin.jpgThis is the story of how I became my sister…

A spine-tingling mystery set in a creepily atmospheric boarding school. Ivy must uncover the secrets behind her twin sister Scarlet’s disappearance before it’s too late.

When troublesome Scarlet mysteriously disappears from Rookwood School, terrifying Miss Fox invites her quiet twin sister Ivy to ‘take her place’.

Ivy reluctantly agrees in the hopes of finding out what happened to her missing sister. For only at Rookwood will Ivy be able to unlock the secrets of Scarlet’s disappearance, through a scattered trail of diary pages carefully hidden all over the school.

Can Ivy solve the mystery before Miss Fox suspects? Or before an even greater danger presents itself?

Perfect middle grade mystery.

It’s very cleverly done, and super creepy in places. And very boarding school-y too, with horrible girls and teachers. Ivy is a great main character – really coming out of her shell and into her Scarlet persona, and of course wonderfully backed up by the fabulous Ariadne.

Rookwood sounds like an utterly horrible school to go to, and one of my favourite things is getting to visualise so much by Ivy going around trying to find Scarlet’s clues. It’s brilliant!

The mystery is excellent – and I like that we are trying to solve an unknown mystery, that’s a good twist.

I’m definitely going to be reading the next one, as I’m dying to know how the ending affects the characters!
