I feel that this is a book which will improve with every reread. Each word is so carefully chosen, each movement guiding you so gently to the next. Anything I didn’t see this time will be there, waiting for me, in the next read. And it is very much a book I feel I will reread regularly.

I sort of “accidentally” ended up rereading the entire Vatta’s War series, as well as Cold Welcome before picking this up finally. I’m glad I did as I definitely picked up some things in CW and this that I probably would have missed otherwise (and definitely did the first time around in the case of Cold Welcome). I really do love this universe and Moon’s military sci-fi epics.

This series is so wonderfully brilliant. I was going to say joyful, but it seems wrong to say that about a book in which so many people are killed by a child! We get more of Tegan's brand of sarcasm and sass, and a super-smart 4-year-old trying to destroy the planet. What more could you want?
