Synopsis

Spensa’s life as a Defiant Defense Force pilot has been far from ordinary. She proved herself one of the best starfighters in the human enclave of Detritus and she saved her people from extermination at the hands of the Krell – the enigmatic alien species that has been holding them captive for decades. What’s more, she travelled light-years from home as an undercover spy to infiltrate the Superiority, where she learned of the galaxy beyond her small, desolate planet home.
Now, the Superiority – the governing galactic alliance bent on dominating all human life – has started a galaxy-wide war. And Spensa’s seen the weapons they plan to use to end it: the Delvers. Ancient, mysterious alien forces that can wipe out entire planetary systems in an instant. Spensa knows that no matter how many pilots the DDF has, there is no defeating this predator.
Except that Spensa is Cytonic. She faced down a Delver and saw something eerily familiar about it. And maybe, if she’s able to figure out what she is, she could be more than just another pilot in this unfolding war. She could save the galaxy.
The only way she can discover what she really is, though, is to leave behind all she knows and enter the Nowhere. A place from which few ever return.
To have courage means facing fear. And this mission is terrifying.

I am so excited to have been asked to be on the blog tour for Cytonic! It has been two LONG years since the last instalment of the Skyward series, and I am so hyped for the Cytonic release. It came out on Tuesday and my copy is sitting on my table, ready to be picked up very very soon!
If you are new to the Skyward universe, let me tell you why you should pick them up.
Defeated, crushed, and driven almost to extinction, the remnants of the human race are trapped on a planet that is constantly attacked by mysterious alien starfighters. Spensa, a teenage girl living among them, longs to be a pilot. When she discovers the wreckage of an ancient ship, she realizes this dream might be possible—assuming she can repair the ship, navigate flight school, and (perhaps most importantly) persuade the strange machine to help her. Because this ship, uniquely, appears to have a soul.
Spensa’s people live underground to hide from attacks from the Krell. She wants to follow in her father’s footsteps, to become a pilot, but he abandoned his mission and no one wants her at the academy. While out searching for food on the surface, she finds an abandoned ship and decides to fix it.
Spensa is a wonderful character, and M-Bot (the ship) and Doomslug are great too! I mean who doesn’t love a sentient ship and a pet slug? This is honestly a funny and adrenaline-filled series and Cytonic looks to be no different.
So far there are two books – Skyward and Starsight, as well as two novellas that I will be searching out asap! Goodreads also tells me there is another book to come in 2023 (nooooooooooooooooooo a wait) too and I honestly can’t tell if I’m excited there’s more or sad we don’t get a resolution yet. Okay, I’m excited 😀

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the blog tour too!
