Book Review – A Pinch of Magic by Michelle Harrison
Three sisters trapped by an ancient curse.
Three magical objects with the power to change their fate.
Will they be enough to break the curse?
Or will they lead the sisters even deeper into danger? …
The enchanting new story from Michelle Harrison, author of the bestselling THIRTEEN TREASURES trilogy

My rating:

This was exactly what middle grade stories should be – full of adventure, sisterly love, loyalty, treachery, bad guys, and, of course, a pinch of magic.
It starts a little slow, with Betty trying to escape from under her strict Gran’s watchful eye – she’s a typical headstrong kid who’s struggling with small town life. But the adventure builds and soon we are flung headlong into the magic, the curse and trying to find the truth.
As soon as they get into trying to break the curse, Betty really comes into herself and I love her loyalty and strength. And Charlie’s bright ideas, and Fliss’ protectiveness.
The story of Sorsha is really well weaved in too – I loved her tale so much!
This book is really good fun and much needed does of magic. 4.5 stars.
