Book Review – The Last Bear by Hannah Gold
This is SO PRETTY. Inside and out. Honestly, my first thought on seeing the book is that the art is even more stunning in person. And the naked hardback has amazing gold foiling. The story is equally as lovely - with illustrations to match.

Book Review – The Deep-Sea Duke by Lauren James
This series may be short but it is oh so sweet. The Deep-Sea Duke is just as heartwarming as it's predecessor, and really ties up everything I was hoping for in The Starlight Watchmaker! It's so pure and lovely.

Book Review – Space Detectives by Mark Powers and Dapo Adeola
This is a cute middle-grade read and, with a name like Space Detectives, I knew I had to try it.
-
Book Review – Murder on the Safari Star by M.G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman
This series really is wonderful! Honestly, I just want to go on awesome train trips around the world. They are so full of love for trains and mysteries, it really shines out from the books.

Book Review – The House at the Edge of Magic by Amy Sparkes
This is a fun but simple read, and nice and short for less keen readers! We follow Nine, a thief with her own self-interest at heart, into a world of magic where she has to help the house break a curse. Flabberghast is perfect as a young but easily distracted wizard - he had just the right amount of silliness.

Book Review – Rival Magic by Deva Fagan
I like that this combines my favourite things of questing and political intrigue, both to excellent effect to make the story move along really fluidly.
-
Book Review – High Rise Mystery by Sharna Jackson
Finally a modern-day middle-grade mystery! Once I found out about this, I knew I had to get it.
-
Book Review – Amari and the Night Brothers by B. B. Alston
This book was everything I wanted it to be and more! Amari is a wonderful main character who mostly wants to find out more about what happened to her brother. When she discovers the Bureau of Supernatural Affairs, a whole new world - and a new view of Quinton’s disappearance - is opened up to her.

Book Review – The Ten Riddles of Eartha Quicksmith by Loris Owen
This is the sort of book that I was genuinely thrilled about. It’s a fantasy, but it’s also a mystery, and it sounded really cute. The idea is just great. Sadly, for me, the execution was a little obvious and tropey. Still a great read but not quite what I hoped for. Though super bonus points for having the fantasy be sort of sciencey and really encouraging that way of thinking!
