Book Review – The Extinction Trials: Rebel by S M Wilson
Betrayal. Sacrifice. Survival. Welcome to The Extinction Trials.
Storm and Lincoln’s city is burning. The people are starving. The only place left to run is Piloria, the continent of monsters. It’s up to Storm and Lincoln to keep their people alive as they colonize this lethal paradise. But will the biggest threat to their survival be the monsters in the jungle… or the ones inside the encampment with them?
The Hunger Games meets Jurassic Park in this wildly popular series filled with action, survival and betrayal.

My rating:

Oh extinction trials, I have missed you!
It took me a couple of chapters to remember what happened at the end of Exile, and to deal with there being so many characters about more of the time, but once I had that nailed this book was absolutely everything I wanted. Pure dinosaur perfection!
For a start, it’s finally more about piloria than earthasia, and it’s also more about living with the dinosaurs. There’s still conflict, which is really well done – I love a good bit of political drama!
Storm in particular really seems to be coming into her own even more by the end too. In fact, despite this benign the last book in the series, I would definitely say it’s open ended and left open for the possibility of more. I’m not going to ruin anything by saying why, but I could definitely see another follow up in future. That said, if we don’t get one, we don’t need it. It’s perfectly done.
I also loved that this is book 3 and Wilson is still managing to surprise and scare us with the dinosaurs. There’s still new things to learn!
I’m already tempted to reread this series, highly recommended!

Buy Rebel from Amazon UK.
