Book Tag – Isles of Storm and Sorrow Book Tag

Today I am celebrating the wonderful Isles of Storm and Sorrow series by Bex Hogan. As you may know, I love this series – Viper and Venom are honestly amazing, and I am SO HYPED for the finale book Vulture! And because I love Bex and this series, I wanted to start a book tag for it – I hope you enjoy it and share it with your friends.

These prompts were inspired by the backstory for each of the isles that Bex has up on her website – I highly recommend reading her tourism brochure for the first six isles, and the origins for the final six isles.

If you somehow haven’t yet read these books, then you can buy them in the UK from Waterstones. These are affiliate links, and if you use them I will get a small amount at no additional cost to you.

Isles of Storm and Sorrow Book Tag

First Isle aka Kings Isle: a book with royalty

For this, I am going to pick Thorn by Intisar Khanani. This has such a interesting take on royalty, by showing Thorn go from Lady to pauper.

Second Isle aka Fallow Isle: a book which has a focus on food or harvests

The Upside of Falling by Alex Light has so much baking in it I got hungry! I want a doughnut just thinking about it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Third Isle aka Black Isle: a book with a black cover

I’m picking The Girl Who Can Move Sh*t With Her Mind by Jackson Ford for this. I highly recommend it as a hilarious mystery super power read!

Fourth Isle aka Floral Isle: a book that makes you feel peaceful

I’m not sure it counts as peaceful, but my comfort book is The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. It’s just so gorgeous and makes me happy.

Fifth Isle aka Mist Isle: a book featuring mountains

A Shiver of Snow and Stars by Lisa Leudeckke is set on a mountainside and is so beautifully wintery.

Sixth Isle aka Rock Isle: a book featuring a quest

I love a quest book and had trouble picking this one! I’ve gone for Seven Endless Forests by April Genevieve Tucholke, as I really love the way she tells stories, and it has some fun magic as well as the quest.

Seventh Isle aka Shadow Isle: a dark story

How could I pick anything other than the glorious Gideon the Ninth by Tamsin Muir for this? It’s dark like my soul ๐Ÿ˜€

Eighth Isle aka Snow Isle: a book with a white cover

Sword in the Stars by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy has a stunning white cover, as well as being the sequel to the fab Once & Future.

Ninth Isle aka Blood Isle: a murder mystery / book featuring murder

…So many of my books seem to involve murder ๐Ÿ˜€ Fallible Justice by Laura Laasko is a great pick if you like magical Londons, chronic pain rep and murder mysteries!

Tenth Isle aka Fire Isle: a book that gets heated (choose your interpretation here!)

The Dark Tide by Alicia Jasinska has a fairly heated relationship with the town and the witches

Eleventh Isle aka Song Isle: a book featuring magicians

I love A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E.Schwab, and the way magic works in that universe, so I’m picking that for this prompt.

Twelfth Isle aka the Jewel of the West: a book with thievery

I have to recommend The Highland Falcon Thief by M.G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman here, it’s honestly so much fun and a perfect middle grade read.

A good few things are going on to celebrate Vulture’s launch, and the end of the series – check out Bex’s Twitter to find more of them. One thing I particularly want to highlight is the Storm and Sorrow Readalong that Connie is hosting! Check it out! If you’ve not read the books yet, this is the time to start.

I tag Moon Kestrel, Connie and Sifa.
