Review

I received this book from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked Jackson in First-Time Caller and was really looking forward to seeing more of him. He’s so sweet and so this definitely hit that need. And I really like Delilah as a foil to his more regimented nature.

However I will say it felt like a bit of a mess of tropes? Not necessarily in a terrible way, but there was no way to have one thread of things there was always a couple and everything kept going wrong all at once. One time is fine but more is unlikely!

That all said, the setting being around the major blizzard and stranding them worked great – it’s a trope but it’s a great one. And the hotel moments 😂😂

I loved Jackson and his relationship with his sisters in particular! And in a weird way, the one with his mum too.  I would have liked to see more of him with Aiden and on the radio, but I get that not being necessary 😂 Delilah seems on paper like his natural opposite, but there’s enough similarities that they worked really well together. I also was very soft for her Grandpa, as someone who’s had Grandparents with Alzheimer’s.
However, the rest of her storyline felt a little cartoonish and flat for me.

Overall, it’s a lot of fun, and while I don’t think it meets the mark of the first installation, it is a very enjoyable romp. 3.75 stars.
