Book Review – Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

I went into this sort of expecting a british Red, White and Royal Blue. And while similar because they’re both gay adult contemporaries, I ended up being surprised but pleased to discover this delves a little deeper. It’s still largely lighted hearted and it’s a lot of fun, but there’s also moments that challenge gaslighting and the pressures of being famous (or fame adjacent!)

Book Review – The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart

This story really is a slow burn to full on addiction. The magic set up is something I’d not seen, and completely loved. The world is fascinating and I think we will see much more of it which is great. And the storytelling is incredibly sweeping, making you read much further than you should into the night ;)

Book Review – The Once and Future Witches by Alex E Harrow

I had high expectations for Once and Future Witches, as Harrow’s previous book, The Ten Thousand Doors of January, was probably my unexpected hit of last year. For a start, I do enjoy reading feminist books, and this is definitely that, with some additional witchy goodness. It also sets up an our-world-but-not-quite scenario that really worked for me.

Book Review – Dragon Consultant by Mell Eight

The FAA has been struggling with dragons attacking their planes, and hire Dane, a supernatural consultant, to look into the matter. What Dane finds in the woods is not quite the problem he expected: a group of dragon kits and their sick father. When he learns the real reason the family was in the woods, his case only grows more dangerous, and while Dane is plenty experienced at watching his own back, taking care of baby dragons and their handsome, distracting father almost makes danger look easy. My rating: I received this book from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.  I enjoyed Dragon Consultant a…
