I simply adored the first book in this series, it is dark and tricksy, and just generally great fun to read. This finale to the duology is no different, I am happy to say! I’m honestly already tempted to reread them both 😀
I love a tournament setting, especially when there is so much between the characters already and they have to deal with their history, as well as the competition. I love the thought that went into the magic set-up and backstory because it helped lean into the character development and interactions. The idea behind winning it all versus destroying it all worked well for me, and watching the characters battle it out and figure out their loyalties was a lot of fun.
Honestly, I already adored Foody’s work and this collab with Herman is no different. 4 stars.
